More Defensive Tips, Ebooks and more at my website! http://maddenmoments.com I got the basis for this tip from Cody Ballard a good friend and partner. I then noticed it could work with many other formations. Check out his youtube below http://www.youtube.com/user/cnballard0531 I know you guys have been patiently waiting! This video covers Madden 25 Run Defense, specifically the stretch but all of these concepts work for all runs. 8 in the Box: Having 8 in the box, 8 defenders near the line of scrimmage, is simply not enough this year. Even in Madden 13, having 8 in the box meant you could at least control the run. This year you need to know how to control those 8 defenders so they get in position to make plays. 4-4 Defense: I love the 4-4 defense because it naturally puts 8 in the box, but you need to set it up for the run defense still! 1. Spread your D Line and Pinch Your Linebackers 2. User the safety or LB and attack the point of attack on the run This alignment seems to tank the stretch run. It is better to user the safety and stay over the top of the run because for some reason the offensive linemen lose and screw up all their blocking assignments. If the RB does make it free 99 percent of the time you will be in perfect position to hit stick the running back. More Run Defense: You can get these 8 man fronts with different plays. Example: 43 Stack Cover 3, the safety comes down as the 4th linebacker. Simply Spread your Line and pinch your linebackers and again contain the run with the safety. It works the same, you just do not have a 4th linebacker in the box. Other Runs: Being a good user player with the safety helps because it benefits you on stopping the Counter, Inside Runs and Other things. I generally like to user the linebackers on the pass and help the safety underneath. But the safety is the way to go when you must stop the run.
