This video is going to show how I mounted a red dot sight (specifically the Vortex Venom sight) to my pistols rear sights dovetail slot - without having to have my slide cut / machined. Since pistol-mounted red dot sights are becoming increasingly popular, I wanted to try one for myself. In watching the video you might ask, why did I choose to use a mount that uses the same slot as the rear-sight and NOT have the top of my slide cut? I did this for a couple of reasons: #1) and most importantly to me is that I didnt want to potentially and permanently ruin my gun, if I discovered that I didnt like using a red-dot sight on my gun. #2) The cost factor. The mount youll see in this video cost me $25. If I wanted to have my guns slide cut to accommodate the red-dot sight, that would have cost me a couple hundred dollars. Now, if I like using a pistol-mounted red dot sight, Ill gladly pay the money and have my slide cut. The sight mount I chose to use can mount a variety of red-dot sights to a variety of Glock pistols. Before you purchase your mount, make sure its designed to be used with your make/model of sight and your specific pistol.
